Lucky number
and colour

Worked out through your driver and conductor and the planet each rules — and this page tells you which step is arithmetic and which step is a table, because only one of them is something you can check.

Date of birth

Nothing else is needed. The driver is your day of birth reduced to one digit; the conductor is the whole date reduced.

Colours

Where this stops being arithmetic: the friendly-number table and the colours are a convention. The steps before them are not — your driver, your conductor and the planet each rules are fixed. The planet is printed beside every answer so you can see what each one was derived from, and disagree with the last step if your teacher's list differs.

The four steps, and which one you can argue with

  • Your driver — the day of the month you were born, reduced to one digit. Arithmetic.
  • Your conductor — the whole date reduced to one digit. Arithmetic.
  • The planet each rules — 1 the Sun, 2 the Moon, 3 Jupiter, and so on. Fixed, and the same attribution the Lo Shu grid uses.
  • Which numbers and colours follow — a table. This is the one you can argue with, and the only one.

Almost every free calculator of this kind gives you the fourth step and hides the first three. That is why two sites hand you two different lucky numbers and neither can tell you why.

Friendly to both, or friendly to one

Your driver and your conductor are usually different numbers, ruled by different planets, and they do not always agree about who their friends are. A number friendly to both is on firmer ground than one friendly to only your driver — so the two are shown separately rather than merged into a single list.

The friendships themselves are the classical naisargika maitritable. It is not symmetric, and that is not an error in it: the Moon counts Mercury a friend while Mercury counts the Moon an enemy. The Moon, in that table, has no enemies at all.

Why 4 and 7 carry a warning

Because 4 is Rahu and 7 is Ketu, and they are the lunar nodes rather than planets. The classical table has seven entries and contains neither of them. Numerology practice fills the gap, and practices differ — so where your driver or conductor is a 4 or a 7, this page says so instead of printing an answer that sounds as settled as the others.

Which of these to actually use, and what to do with the rest.

That part is a reading, and it is given by a person — Lubna Faraz, who practises numerology, vastu and palmistry. The calculators here stay free; nothing is held back behind it.

A reading →
What this page is. It reduces a date, names a planet, and reads a table. What any of that means for a person is a practitioner's reading and not something arithmetic can hand you. Nothing here is medical, legal or financial advice.
